Career Path Internship (CPI) Program
About the CPI Program
A Career Path Internship is a short-term, structured learning experience that allows a student to apply academic knowledge, develop career-related skills and gain meaningful experience in a professional setting.
CPI internships are generally designed to last one or two academic semesters and must include:
- Clearly defined learning objectives;
- Duties related to the student’s academic program or career goals;
- Regular supervision, mentorship and feedback;
- Opportunities for the student to develop new and transferable skills; and
- A defined beginning and end.
CPI internships are intended to support student learning and professional development.
The CPI Program helps students connect with internships that will enhance their academic and professional careers including internships based in local organizations and on-campus opportunities.
All CPI internships are PAID. Base wages are as follows:
- Undergraduate: $13/hour
- Graduate: $15/hour
- Doctoral: $17/hour

CPI Intern of the Month
The CPI Intern of the Month award is granted to CPI interns who have gone above and beyond in their respective internship duties. Winners are featured on ISU's published communications as well as social media sites and receive a Bengal Dining voucher.
To nominate your student intern, please provide a short paragraph that includes the student's name, internship duties/projects, and why the student deserves this award to jahsemil@isu.edu. We review all nominations each month. Non-winning nominations will be considered for future months, so you only have to submit a nomination once per intern.
